B is the new benchmark: Feed companies encouraged to join the B Corp movement
We hear why it is important for all business to rethink the way they operate and their impact on people and the planet.

In the latest episode of Feed Matters, the FeedNavigator podcast, we hear from Joey van den Brink, business development lead at B Lab Europe. We caught up with him during the Nutreco led AgriVision 2021 event last week, where he was presenting.

The sustainable business expert stressed how the global economy is changing and how we must improve the economics across the feed-to-food chain to ensure sustainable investments in the future.

Outlining the programs and tools that are offered to support communities in improving their positive impact, he also talked about how the B Corp movement is accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

The B Corp movement believes that society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone.

"The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment."

While van den Brink seems growing interest by companies in the feed-to-food value chain in the idea of becoming B Certified corporations, it tends to be more at the food manufacturer and retailer end, he encourages feed companies to engage.
