Cargill acquires shrimp feed mill in Vietnam

Cargill Vietnam has acquired the mill from Higashimaru Vietnam Co. Ltd, marking the company’s first investment in the country’s shrimp feed industry.

Pedro A Curry, general manager for aquaculture in Vietnam for Cargill, said: “Shrimp farming is a growing industry, and this mill is a good complement to our existing feed business in Vietnam. It allows Cargill to quickly enter the shrimp feed manufacturing market with significant capacity and to begin to service shrimp producers.”

The company expects to begin producing shrimp feed for commercialisation within two to three months of initial investments.

Cargill Vietnam Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cargill, has been operating since 1995 in the country and now runs six animal feed mills, purchases and exports coca bean and imports food ingredients and feed materials.
