India and Bangladesh on Evonik gut health hit list

Evonik is releasing its in-house developed probiotic, GutCare PY1, in India and Bangladesh now following the launches in the US and China earlier this year.

In January this year, the producer introduced it in the US market saying other countries would follow. It used the China Feed Expo in Fuzhou in April as the launch pad for the product in that market’s poultry sector, and by the end of 2018, it said its goal was to be present in every Asian country with at least one probiotic.

It claims its GutCare PY1 product has a positive impact on the healthy balance of bacteria populations in the chicken gut, particularly under stressful conditions.

In the development of that probiotic product, the company said it initiated a multi-parameter selection process to screen more than 500 strains of the bacterial type Bacillus subtilis for probiotic properties.

“Different scientific in-vitro as well as in-vivo studies demonstrated the ability of Bacillus subtilis DSM 32315 to modify the gut microbiota to inhibit the conditions that encourage different necrotic enteritis outbreak isolates.”
