Evonik will increase the net price of its DL-methionine 99% feed grade, branded as MetAMINO, worldwide by 7%.

The price increase for its essential amino acid takes effect immediately, but all existing contracts and supply agreements will be honored, said the specialty chemicals company.

The German firm is one of the world's leading manufacturers of DL-methionine.

Chinese investigation

Meanwhile, last week China announced it was starting anti-dumping investigations concerning the import of methionine from Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.

Evonik fully supports the investigation by the Chinese authorities and will provide competent bodies with all the necessary information and data. The company said it will cooperate fully in the ongoing investigation, while being confident with respect to its outcome.

The company manufactures MetAMINO at four locations - in Antwerp in Belgium, in Alabama in the US, in Singapore and in Wesseling in Germany. The largest plant is located in Antwerp.

It said, relying on this production network, it supplies customers in more than 120 countries, which ensures a “structurally reliable supply of methionine on a global basis - regardless of geographic location.”
