Former Naturex CEO, Olivier Rigaud, has been appointed as the new CEO of Corbion. 

That Dutch company's Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, held on August 5, 2019, approved the appointment.

Rigaud succeeds Tjerk de Ruiter in the role. He will form the Corbion Board of Management together with CFO Eddy van Rhede van der Kloot, said the company.

Rigaud is French and has a master's degree in chemistry. Corbion said he brings deep knowledge

and insight into the ingredients markets globally.

"He has operated in the sector for nearly 30 years, in significant leadership roles at Tate & Lyle and most recently as CEO at Naturex, until it was acquired by Givaudan in 2018. He has a solid track record of driving growth, profitability and shareholder value in a sustainable way, and transforming technologies into successful innovative

products."

From fish feed manufacturing to breeding

Former BioMar executive, Hans Halle-Knutzen, has been named AquaGen’s new sales and marketing director. 

That Norwegian entity is a breeding company that develops, produces and delivers genetic start material to the global aquaculture farming industry. AquaGen owns and further develops the world’s first research based breeeding programs for Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout that began in the 1970s.

He has a certificate of apprenticeship in aquaculture, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sør-Trøndelag University College (HiST), and a master’s degree in business from Queensland University of Technology/Stockholm University.

He began his career at Hydrotech AS as a fish technician, before taking over the operating responsibility of a site  in Sunndalsfjord. He the exited aquaculture for a time before returning to the sector. From 2013 until recently, he was sales and marketing director at Danish fish feed manufacturer, BioMar.

"He has an extensive experience from management positions in the both the aquaculture industry and the banking industry."

Halle-Knutzen will be part of the AquaGen management team, and will be located at the genetic company's headquarters in Trondheim.

Cargill UK’s pig nutrition team has appointed Katie Stephen as a technical sales specialist.

Based in Staffordshire, she will provide nutritional advice to pig producers across the UK and she will support the Cargill sales team in relation to the new NeopiggMax starter feed range.

The company said she will also be heading up technical sales for Cargill’s growing range of pig feed additives, promoting their use and benefits in piglet, grower, finisher and sow diets.

She has a degree in animal sciences from the University of Aberdeen, and a Master of Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh.

Cargill said that the pig nutrition specialist has gained commercial and technical experience in leading UK and international nutrition companies, including Trouw and, more recently, ForFarmers.

Lloyd Phillips has recently been appointed as director, Dynamic Feed Processing and Hygiene, a consultancy focused on product efficacy, feed trial and troubleshooting for industry suppliers and product developers.

He has extensive global animal feed manufacturing experience spanning more than 25 years. Prior to taking on this role, Phillips was operations director, of UK feed company, Humphrey Feeds & Pullets. He also worked in Kemin Animal Nutrition and was animal nutrition manager at George Weston Foods in Australia.

Philips said he is excited about providing a reliable global feed service to both existing and new clients as more focus is placed on feed costs, product quality, feed hygiene and animal health products with the industry facing disease pressures and also shifting towards antibiotic free production.

“I look forward to collaborating with animal feed manufacturers, to add operational value, improving mill efficiency, to improve product quality and train production personnel.”

D&D Ingredients hires dairy market expert
D&D Ingredients hires dairy market expert

US headquartered, feed ingredient suppliers and blending experts, D&D Ingredient Distributors, Inc, has appointed Pat Kahle as sales manager.

Ted Williams, Chief Operations Officer for D&D, said Kahle, in the new role, would serve producers, veterinarians, nutritionists, and feed professionals in the Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana markets.

Kahle earned his BS in Animal Science from The Ohio State University in 1987. He began his career as an account manager with Pfizer and has served in various dairy-related capacities over the past 23 years with several companies including Monsanto, Chr Hansen, and, most recently, Arm & Hammer.

He also has served in a human resources capacity for several years with Perdue Farms and so understands labor components for small to mid-size businesses, said D&D Ingredients.

Animal health group recruits investment manager

Stonehaven Incubate, formed in February 2018, and a dedicated, animal health group committed to creating new companies de novo from disruptive human technology, has appointed Dr Gwynneth Thomas as investment manager based in London.

The Swiss group said Dr Thomas has extensive scientific and commercial experience in the areas of pathology, genomics, digital health, medical device and diagnostics.

Dr Mark Heffernan, CEO of Stonehaven Incubate, said: “Gwynneth has spent her career at the intersection of business and science, gaining significant experience in product growth, operations and fundraising, within, and on behalf of, early-stage human health companies.

"This includes over two years at the Texas Medical Center’s Innovation Institue in Houston, the largest medical center in the world, where she engaged over 50 human health start-up companies with the greater medical community, supporting them as they worked through various strategic business decisions.

“She is ideally suited to the role of Investment Manager here at Stonehaven Incubate where she will be able to help our clients with the creation and growth of new animal health companies.”

Stonehaven has recently announced an alliance with Nuritas, with the collaboration initially focused on feed ingredients.

Chr. Hansen scientist heads to Novozymes

Ole Sjøholm has been named senior scientist, Novozymes. He started working for the Danish group this month. In that role he is charged with evaluating and formulating strategy for microbiology automation in collaboration with assay development and quality control, among other activities.

Previous to this position, he was head of the animal health innovation team at Chr. Hansen, a company that he worked in since 2010.

Joe Hugill has been named managing consultant for animal health and nutrition at UK recruitment agency, Mackenzie Stuart. 

He was hired as a recruitment consultant with the Leeds based executive search group in January 2018. 

Hugill has full responsibility for all business development and client account management in the animal nutrition, animal health and feed ingredients sector.
