Agri-commodities giant, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), announced late last month the appointment of Patrick Treuer as chief financial officer (CFO), with immediate effect, reporting to COO,  Michael Gelchie. Patrick remains a member of LDC’s senior leadership team and also retains his position as the company’s chief strategy officer.

A Swiss national, Patrick Treuer joined LDC’s sister company Biosev in 2014 as head of strategy, a role he held until his appointment as head of strategy for LDC in 2015. Prior to joining the Group, he worked for 15 years in investment banking, based in Switzerland and the UK. Patrick holds a business degree from the University of St Gallen.

Former CFO, Federico Cerisoli, remains with the company and will focus on coordinating LDC’s cost efficiency program, launched in November, reporting to Michael Gelchie, said LDC.

Cargill hires ruminant nutrition expert

Nick Berni has joined Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health as ruminant category specialist for additives. A University of Nottingham graduate, he has spent 20 years in the livestock nutrition industry, working as a nutritionist, and in technical and commercial roles in the forage, additive and feed manufacturing sectors.

Cargill says Berni, who will be based in the UK, joins the company at a significant time in its additive market development, as the company takes over exclusive distribution of the Diamond V range in the UK and Ireland. Cargill acquired Diamond V in January 2018.

Devenish eyes growth prospects in Latin America

Global agri technology company, Devenish, said to support Dr Jorge Pena, regional manager for LATAM, in growing the business in the region, it has appointed Enrique Artiga as regional sales manager for Central America. 

Wiith over 14 years’ experience, Artiga has a wealth of knowledge on animal nutrition and the local markets, so he is well placed to help Devenish expand, said the company.

MD of Devenish International, Ian Atterbury, said: “We have ambitious plans for international growth and see huge potential in this region. Globally, there is over one billion metric tons of feed produced each year and 15% of that in produced in Latin America.

“Since Dr Jorge Pena joined the business last year, we’ve registered a wide range of products in several countries and developed a number of key accounts.”

Zinpro aiming to boost trace mineral sales in EMEA, Russia and beyond...

US trace mineral producer, Zinpro, said Hans Aae has been promoted to vice president of sales for EMEA, Oceania and Russia. In that role, he is set to lead sales teams in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Russia and Oceania, while also serving as a member of the company’s leadership team.

Aae joined Zinpro in early 2018 as international swine business manager and was promoted to business development manager for swine, international, prior to his current role.

Before joining Zinpro, he worked as a research and development director across multiple species for a major European agricultural cooperative.

DSM names Feike Sijbesma honorary chairman
DSM names Feike Sijbesma honorary chairman

Nutrition and health company, DSM, announced earlier this month that CEO, Feike Sijbesma, will be appointed as honorary chairman of the company after the handover of his role as CEO to his successors in the first quarter of 2020.

In that new function, he would continue to act as an ambassador to DSM, it said.

Sijbesma is DSM’s longest serving CEO since the post-war period and was a member of its managing board for 20 years, of which he served almost 13 years as CEO.
