Noack also targets the food and veterinary sectors with a range of agrofood and veterinary diagnostic test systems.
Founded in 1980, Noack is headquartered in Vienna and has an extensive presence in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. It also has partnerships with local players in adjacent countries such as Northern Macedonia, Bosnia & Hercegovina, and Moldavia.
The group reported an annual turnover of €60m (US$73.3m) in 2020.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions including merger control clearances.
Barentz said Noack’s product portfolio is complementary to its animal nutrition range of ingredients.
The Austrian company's suppliers and customers will benefit from the support and knowledge of Barentz’ local technical expertise and strong global network, added the company.
CEO of Noack, Herbert Völkerer, will remain active in the company. He is looking to further expand in Central Europe, with new product launches. “That’s where the quality of Barentz’ network is crucial.”
Emulsifiers deal
The Netherlands headquartered Barentz has been busy on the asset trail of late, acquiring Sevecom, a specialist in emulsifiers with their own developed and patented solutions for animal nutrition, back in November 2020.
Headquartered in Milan, Italy, Sevecom has a prominent home-market position, said Barentz.
Hidde van der Wal, CEO of Barentz, said: “Sevecom has a very strong position, with patented emulsifiers. [Combined] with our animal nutrition team and our global network, there will be new opportunities to offer added value to all feed industry customers.”
Barentz has operations in more than 60 countries with a strong presence in EMEA and Asia-Pacific, and a rapidly growing presence in North America and Latin America. With a turnover of €1.4bn, the company employs around 1,500 people worldwide and serves over 21,000 customers.
