Delacon recently announced that it has appointed Michael Fischer as it new chief operating officer (COO).

In his function as COO, he reports to Delacon’s CEO, Markus Dedl, and oversees the areas of operations, finance, organizational development, as well as administration.

Fischer is based at Delacan’s hub in Engerwitzdorf, Austria. He joins that company following 25 years of experience gained in the food industry. He has been part of executive boards for 13 years, said the phytogenics producer.

In leading several business units, Fischer gained broad expertise in finance and controlling, business development and sales, brand and marketing, global expansions and export strategies, production and purchase, organizational changes, and corporate strategy. Most recently, he worked with the family-owned food company SPITZ as CEO for the bakery division.

His professional career is founded on his business administration studies at the University of Linz and he also has an MBA degree.

Avivagen says it has has hired Lesley Nernberg as a technical sales and marketing consultant, focused on accelerating the adoption of a particular livestock product in Asia.

Nernberg has held key technical sales and operation management positions with multiple well-known multinational animal nutrition companies such as ADM, Diamond V and Biomin, with a focus on marketing feed additives and complete feed across Asia.

Based in Thailand, the consultant holds a graduate degree in animal science and nutrition from the University of Manitoba and has established himself as an expert in the livestock feed additive industry in Asia over the past nine years, said Avivagen.

In this role, he will focus primarily on Vietnam, Indonesia and South Korea.

Avivagen Inc is a life sciences corporation focused on developing and commercializing products for livestock, companion animal and human applications designed to enhance feed intake and support immune function, thereby supporting general health and performance.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition has opened a new office in Seoul, South Korea, to further enhance the company's commitment to customer service and innovation in that market.

Lallemand Korea’s product portfolio includes components for ruminants, swine, poultry, and companion animals.

The new office will be led by Choi Si Yeong, country manager for Lallemand Animal Nutrition South Korea [pictured].

“Expanding our presence into South Korea is a logical step in our business growth strategy in Southeast Asia,” says Paul-Antoine Croizé, business area director, Southeast Asia for Lallemand. “The launch of our Seoul office advances our corporate commitment to building strong relationships with customers. The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) recently announced the addition of Emily Anne Igli as development and operations specialist.

Igli will provide tactical support for Constance Cullman, AFIA’s president and CEO, and Lara Moody, IFEEDER’s executive director, as well as facilitate board operations and donor stewardship.

She will also support the IFEEDER Board of Trustees and deliver reports on fundraising efforts and results, while working closely with the IFEEDER executive director to establish and implement the overall strategic direction for the public charity.

Additionally, she will work closely with the AFIA communications team, developing strategies for a development presence in all communications and marketing.

“Emily’s past experience in agricultural government relations and interest in sustainability makes her an excellent asset to the AFIA team,” said Cullman.

Igli holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and political science from the University of Arkansas.

Leslie van der Meulen [pictured] was recently promoted to executive vice president of product marketing and innovation at Green Plains Inc. He has held various positions at that US company since 2013.

Omaha, Nebraska headquartered Green Plains has been transforming its business from traditional ethanol production into a sustainable biorefinery producing value-add ingredients.

Green Plains Inc also announced changes to its board of directors in July as part of a board refreshment and diversity initiative that it said included reducing the size of its board and a focus on increasing diversity.

James Crowley announced his retirement from the board last month as did Tom Manuel while Gordon Glade announced his resignation. In conjunction with these changes, the board of directors appointed Martin Salinas, Jr to the board and elected him to serve as its audit committee chair.

“I want to thank each of our departing board members for working tirelessly in advancing the company’s goals and for their support of greater diversity on the board,” said Wayne Hoovestol, chairman of the board of Green Plains Inc. “We are very pleased to welcome Martin to the board of directors. He brings a strong financial background and tremendous industry experience that will help us as we continue to execute on our transformation plan."

Former ForFarmers UK marketing director, James Hague, has taken on a new role with UK feed supplier, Mole Valley Farmers, where he is now head of group agri sales. 

As well as commercial acumen, Hague has also extensive experience of dairy research.

In addition, he developed Tracker, an online milk prediction and monitoring tool that is said to count hundreds of users across NZ, Australia and the UK.

Ruminant specialist, Nicholas Anglade, has been appointed by Hamlet Protein as category manager ruminants to further support the company’s ambition in young animal nutrition.

Nicholas Anglade, who is French, graduated from Rennes National School of Agronomy and Essec Cergy Pontoise. He has a wealth of experience and has built up a strong network from his career in leading international companies, said the Danish soy protein producer.

“Calf nutrition has always been my passion. I am truly excited to join Hamlet Protein and to have the opportunity to contribute to its ambitious growth agenda,” said Anglade.
