A former FrieslandCampina executive has been appointed chief commercial officer (CCO) at the Netherlands-based insect protein company, Protix.
Anneke van de Geijn brings more than 13 years of experience at that Dutch multinational dairy cooperative to her new role. She held several positions at FrieslandCampina including global sales director for food and beverages and group manager nutritional sciences.
Protix also recently recruited Jeroen van der Staay as its new chief growth officer, as first reported by IntraFish.
Prior to his appointment, he was a senior player with Cargill Aqua Nutrition.
In February 2021, Protix generated €15.5m (US$18.5m) in a new funding round, with the investment set to support the next leg of its development.
Cobb-Vantress, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, has made Joyce Lee its new president.
Lee, who will report to David Bray, Tyson Foods’ group president of poultry, joins Cobb after serving as executive VP and president of the US$1.5bn US pet health and commercial operations portfolio for Elanco.
She joined Elanco through its acquisition of Bayer Animal Health in 2020.
At Bayer Animal Health, Lee was the president of the North America segment and, according to Cobb-Vantress, delivered significant growth in its commercial operations, surpassing more than US$750m in sales and exceeding market e-commerce growth by 80%.
Lee also spent more than 16 years at Zoetis, formerly known as Pfizer Animal Health, in various roles, including executive vice president and area president of Canada and Latin America, helping Zoetis manage its IPO and spin-off from Pfizer in 2013.
And she currently serves on the board of animal and human nutrition supplier, Balchem Corporation.
Dana Johnson Downing has been named by the North American Renderers Association (NARA) as its new vice president of international programs.
In that role, she will direct NARA’s international marketing program and manage all international promotion, market development, and foreign market access activities.
She will also represent the US rendering industry in international trade negotiations.
Prior to NARA, Downing served as director of partnerships and policy for TraceGains, Inc. where she led policy initiatives and developed alliances with technology providers, food industry trade associations, regulators, and academia.
She previously held several positions in the US Congress and the US Department of Agriculture, including running the Agricultural Trade Office at the US Embassy in Moscow, and was a strategy and policy advisor for the meat and soybean industries.
Fanny Weinbreck is Agrifirm's new global R&D director.
She took up the reins at the Dutch agribusiness group on January 10.
In that role, she will manage the research & development department’s agenda, supporting the group’s business units in animal nutrition and arable agriculture.
Weinbreck studied biology at France's University of Compiegne. She obtained her PhD in the University of Utrecht.
She held various positions within the R&D department at FrieslandCampina Kievit since she began working there in 2007.
Amlan International is boosting its technical capabilities in the Asia Pacific (APEC) region with the appointment of Dr Kim Huang as regional technical services manager.
The mineral feed additives player said Dr Huang will play an important role in expanding the APEC team that will serve the growing Southeast Asia market where poultry production, it flagged, is expected to account for one-third of global production by 2023.
Dr Huang has been involved in the animal nutrition industry for more than 30 years, including most recently as a nutritional consultant for poultry businesses.
Previously, he was a technical and commercial director for the Asia Pacific for a global feed and nutrition technology company subsidiary, and a nutritional services manager for the Asia Pacific for a global poultry breeding company, reported Amlan.
He is a graduate of South China Agricultural University, with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural science, and he earned a PhD from the University of Queensland specializing in the amino acid nutritional requirements of broilers.
