Listed chemical, food ingredients and animal nutrition distributor, Azelis, is to purchase the majority shares of Brazil’s Vogler Ingredients.

Vogler, which has 130 employees, is one of Brazil's leading specialty ingredient distributors, active in the food and nutrition and animal nutrition markets. Its 2,300 customers include some of the region’s largest food and animal feed producers. It operates three full-service application laboratories at its headquarters in São Paulo and it also has a regional office in Recife.

Azelis said the acquisition represents a strategic expansion of the group’s footprint in the largest economy in Latin America, supporting its growth strategy in that region.

"Joining forces with Vogler provides Azelis with a significant foothold in the Brazilian food and nutrition market and the opportunity to expand," noted Frank Bergonzi, CEO Azelis Americas.

João Viveiros, Vogler’s founder and director, will remain in that role and will continue to lead the business post-closing.

“Our market-leading regional expertise, combined with Azelis’ strong global network... creates a powerful international partnership, which will benefit our diverse range of principals and customers,” he commented.

The transaction, which is subject to standard closing conditions, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023.

Antwerp based Azelis is listed on Euronext Brussels; It recorded turnover of €4.1bn (US$4.49bn) in 2022.
