Egil Magne Haugstad [pictured] was recently elected president and Eduardo Goycoolea vice president of the next management board of the marine ingredients organisation, the IFFO. They will take on their new roles from January 1, 2024.
Magne Haugstad is the CEO of Pelagia and current vice president of IFFO.
“I look forward to contributing to develop knowledge and competence within the marine ingredients sector. We will also explore how IFFO can keep developing its services and be an even better meeting place for our industry," he remarked.
Pelagia’s head office is in Norway with factories concentrated on North Atlantic. The fishmeal and -oil factories are in Norway, England, Scotland, and Ireland. Pelagia is also the largest producer of pelagic seafood globally and high-quality omega-3 concentrates in Norway, and the company runs the biggest fleet of vessels collecting by-products categories 3 and 2 from the salmon industry.
Goycoolea is one of the founders of the IFFO and was co-president of the organization back in 2001. He was the sales and marketing director for El Golf, and then Blumar, for more than 20 years, until 2015. He has also been a board member of several other local and international organizations around the world, including being the executive director of New World Currents, a JV of Chilean salmon producing companies looking to sell into the Chinese market, and director of Exapesca, a JV involving Chilean fish oil producers.
Goycoolea, who also represented the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) in the ASC Steering Committee that developed the new ASC Feed Standard, said the IFFO has become the reference point for the marine ingredients industry, and that its events provide an unrivalled opportunity for the whole value chain to meet.
